MACSC & Housing, Inc is a nonprofit developer located in Houston, Texas with a mission to develop decent, safe and affordable housing for low to moderate income individuals and families, and to increase economic opportunities through internships and job skills development.

MACSC & Housing is defined as the Multidisciplinary Alternatives for the Child Support Center. The multidisciplinary approach of combining an array of supportive services, which includes child support education, post-secondary education, job training and homebuyer education with housing initiatives, to provide alternative opportunities to address barriers to unemployment and housing needs. All community services are designed to help educate, increase incomes and produce homeownership.

MACSC’s comprehensive programs provide the supportive services needed to build productive citizens and stable communities. Our Motto: “Reach to Teach, One Family at a Time”.

In 1998, As the Multidisciplinary Alternatives for the Child Support Center, MACSC’s joined the forces to help to enforce child support and promote awareness and education for child support victims, which were teen parents and unemployed women receiving government assistance. Serving over 100 clients yearly in child support education, in 2000 the program was extended to offer job skills development and internships to youth parents receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, as well as single female parents reentering the job market. MACSC is a certified education and job training provided through the Texas Work Source.

In 2001, MACSC created a Second Chance Home program, which housed 3 youth parents and their children in shared living arrangement concept. These youth parents were enrolled in the Work-Experience Internship program, attending post-secondary education and moving toward self-sufficiency.

The organization’s mission was extended from supportive services and transitional living, to providing 2 rental housing for low income families. The name was changed to MACSC & Housing, Inc. to reflect the comprehensive profile of services and affordable housing.

In 2003, MACSC & Housing, Inc. was certified by the City of Houston, Community Housing Development Department as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) to expand decent and safe housing to low income communities and families. Through the SEED’s homebuyer education program, we assisted 2 low income families with down payment assistance and mortgage financing to purchase 2 affordable homes built in southeast Houston by the organization. MACSC is partnered with Whitney Community Corporation to secure funding to build low income homes in distressed and unstable communities in southeast Houston and surrounding areas.

MACSC@Work and MACSC@Home are defined community development programs which are designed to move low to moderate income families toward economic independence and homeownership.
